Acrylic Painting: Level 1-3

This class is designed for the beginning to advanced painter wanting to develop skills in acrylic painting. The class is divided into two parts where the first half of the term concentrates on a specific skill or technique involved with acrylic painting. Topics to be discussed may include elements and principles of design including composition color theory, texture, etc. Topics may also include painting styles including glazing, impasto, grisaille, blending, etc. From term to term the projects will change, stimulating and encouraging growth, allowing students to repeat the same class all year round. Advanced students are offered the choice to participate in the first technique/skill based painting or work independently with one on one mentorship from the instructor. From sketches to paintings, projects will be discussed and fully explored with goals attained. Students are encouraged to work from their own images and ideas. Please bring 6 images to the first class.

Acrylic Transfer Workshop:

Explore the amazing capacity of acrylic media to be used in alternative ways. Learn a variety of methods to transfer your own images (photocopies of photographs printed on a laser printer) into gel mediums and incorporate them into your artwork using tapes, gels, grounds and pastes. Learn to make direct image transfers, an immediate way of incorporating photocopied images into your work. Also learn how to create image transfers as acrylic skins, a great technique for imbedding your images into other surfaces. Prepare your transfers for use in artwork and layer transfers using gels, pastes and grounds. You will leave with a solid understanding of how to create both direct image transfers and images transfers as acrylic skins. The ideas are endless of how to integrate them into intriguing collaged works.
